"Understanding the Seasons"
Lets talk about understanding your seasons with the Lord. Knowing this can help prevent future problems. The Farmer knows when its seedtime and when its
harvest time. He understands the seasons when to plant and when to pick in the field. Have you ever gone to the store to buy fruit? When in its season it looks goods and tastes like nothing you have ever eaten, but when you buy fruit out of it's growing season it is does not look or taste the same.
If the Lord is telling you and requiring you to move to another city, a new house, or switch to a new job then everything will fall into the right place and time. With the Lords provision, peace and guidance the doors to whatever you are seeking the Lord will provide. You’ll see all the right doors opening for you and
everything will fall into place according to His plan. Don’t get ahead of the Lord and don’t fall behind. If you are endeavoring to do something in life you know the Lord wants you to do, but it seems as if you are running into walls, road blocks, obstacles, closed doors, insurmountable pressure, and a lot of unfavorable conditions, then check your timing of events, and check your seasons. There is a big difference between extreme satanic resistance and opposition from the enemy
and that of red flags, road blocks, and protective barriers that are set in place by God to protect you from stepping outside of his will and his timing.
Some people run ahead of their season, not discerning the timing of a circumstance or situation. Then they end up defeated, depleted, weary, and distressed. There is a set time and a set season for everything that the Lord has in store for your life.
Some mountains are from the Lord and not from the devil. When all the doors the God ordaineds to swing wide open, everything will fall into place and
you will know at that time that it is your season, and it is your time.
Don’t try to step out on somebody else’s word from the Lord for their lives,
but step out on the word he gives to you for your appointed time. When the Lords time is at hand He will open the heavens and your harvest will come down in the season the Lord has promised that you shall prosper.
Have you ever wondered WHY it is taking so long? What is God doing? Maybe you’re feeling like God has forgotten you and that the vision or dream that He placed in your heart will not come to pass. Everything is RIGHT ON SCHEDULE! GOD HAS YOU AT THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME and if you will just walk closely with Him and keep your complete TRUST in Him, everything will turn out just as He said it would! In Ecclesiastes 3:1 God’s Word tells us, “To everything there is a SEASON, and a time to every purpose under heaven.”
As we study God’s Word, we learn amazing truths about who God is and how He operates. Here we learn that God is a God of seasons. Everything that God does, He does in seasons.
In the book of Genesis we learned that God divided time itself into different seasons. There is a day season and there is a night season. There is a winter season and there is a summer season. Each season has its own purpose. For example, the DAY SEASON is for working and the NIGHT SEASON is for resting (see Psalms 104:23).
Just like there are NATURAL SEASONS on the earth, there are also SPIRITUAL SEASONS. In 1 Thessalonians 5:1 we discover that God has set a specific season for the return of Jesus Christ to the earth. In Acts 1:7, we learn that God has a pre-determined and specific season for the complete restoration of the nation of Israel and the salvation of the Jews.
So we can see that there are NATURAL SEASONS and SPIRITUAL SEASONS. But God also has a SPECIFIC SEASON for your life. Just as God has created different seasons of time on the earth, He has also divided our life into different seasons. God has a specific season that He has set aside to bring to pass His plan and purpose for your life.
In Psalm 1:3 it declares, “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit IN HIS SEASON; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”
Notice the phrase “in his season”. You have a season! Your season is called “due season”. It is the set time that God has prepared to bring to pass His specific plan and promises that He has for your life. Remember, everything that God does in your life, He does through seasons. God’s ultimate purpose and plan for your life is being withheld from complete fulfillment until the right season!
What dream has God placed in your heart? What is it that God has called you to do? God has a specific season planned just for you where He will bring it all to pass. Habakkuk 2:3 declares, “For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
In John chapter 2 Jesus told His mother, “Mine hour is not yet.” Jesus understood that there was a specific season for His ministry to be fulfilled. Moses got ahead of God when he killed the Egyptian. He tried to deliver the children of Israel before it was the right season. Abraham tried to help God’s promise of a child come to pass, not realizing that God had a specific season already set for the fulfillment of the promise.
It is very important that you understand what season you are in. In 1 Chronicles 12:32 it tells us that the children of Issachar, “had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.” In order for you to enter into and fulfill your due season, you must know what to do in your current season. How you handle your current season will determine whether you ever enter into your due season.
It is important to understand that God is using your current season to prepare you for your due season. Your current season may seem long, it may seem hard, but remember it is a season of preparation. In Deuteronomy 8:2 God tells the children of Israel that the purpose of their wilderness season was for a time of testing and proving. We must all go through a “wilderness season” before we enter our due season.
Israel had to pass through the wilderness on the way to the promised land. Moses dwelt in the desert for 40 years before he became the mighty deliverer of God’s people. What about Joseph? He spent time in a pit and a prison before the dream God gave him could come to pass. Even Jesus went to the wilderness to be tested (Luke 4:1) before He began His ministry!
There will always be a wilderness season before we enter into our due season. In the wilderness we will be tested. Your faith will be tested and you will be tempted to give up on your dream. Only after we pass the test of the wilderness season will God promote us to our due season.
So do not give up! God has not forgotten you! The vision is for an appointed time, it will come to pass! Maybe it looks bleak right now, but God has not forgotten you. He is only strengthing your faith in Him. He has you in the wilderness. But remember, just across the river is the promised land. Galatians 6:9 encourages us, “And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Spring, summer, autumn and winter are the seasons of the year. Life also has its seasons. Some are filled with joy, while others are characterised by difficulty and disappointment. Disappointment can usually be an emotional response to our own failure – or someone else’s –to achieve a desire, hope, dream or goal. This can often lead to losing faith in someone on whom you were depending – perhaps even a person you love.
In such situation it helps to recognize the seasons in your spiritual life. Sometimes you have a short intense burst of growth (spring and summer time) followed by a longer period of stabilizing and testing (autumn and winter). Take comfort because there is a principle from the Bible that can encourage and sustain you through every season: The faithfulness of God.
We can learn about God’s faithfulness from 1 Corinthians 1:9 where Paul says:
‘God is faithful, through whom you were called into fellowship with His son, Jesus Christ our Lord’. To say that God is faithful means He always does exactly what He says He will do. God will keep His promise to you and will be with you in all seasons. (Heb. 13:5). No matter how deep, how dark, how depressing, how hopeless or how good things may seem your Heavenly Father is with you through every single circumstance. Nothing can stop you from achieving your goals when you maintain a winning attitude and focus on your opportunities, God’s blessings and promises for your life. Look up to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. Over time a slow steady stream of water will erode the hardest rock and turn giant boulders into pebbles.
Choose to forgive those who have disappointed you and focus on what you can control – your attitudes and your opportunities. Living this way increases your energy and builds your potential and takes the limits off your future.
So embrace these four truths in every season:
1. God will be faithful to you because it is His very nature. (Psalm 36:5).
2. God knows all about your situation so you are never alone in any season of your life. (Psalm 139.1).
3. God is almighty, so He has the power to meet every single need, and He knows how to move you through the seasons of your life.
4. Remember that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Rom. 8:28).
Hold on to this fact: You will change and seasons will change, but God is always the same. He will not fail you, He will not waver on you, and He will not vary. Neither will He forget you today – He is with you always.
